Mr. Wright is an authority on industrial safety and OSHA requirements. He possesses a wealth of first-hand knowledge of medical/technology considerations, as well as the constantly changing legal and regulatory landscape surrounding Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Mr. Wright has spent over twenty-five years as a provider of safety and life-saving equipment. His passion is to save lives and preserve the quality of life. His mission is to spread that passion to as many people as possible by sharing his knowledge, insights and experience. Richard Wright graduated from The University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management in 1978. While working on his undergraduate degree he gained three years of intensive, on-the-job management training as a participant in the SQUAD Program sponsored by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Prior to earning his Bachelor’s Degree he served his country in Vietnam as an Army Intelligence Specialist holding a Top Secret Crypto Clearance. During his two-year assignment in Saigon, he received the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. After his honorable discharge from the US Army he continued his education on the GI Bill at the University of Akron and at Baldwin Wallace College where he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1982. After completing his education Mr. Wright held multiple management positions at several leading companies. For over four years he worked in consumer marketing and sales as a District Manager for SC Johnson & Son. He spent five years as Regional Manager for the Norton Company developing a successful distribution network for this leading manufacturer of safety equipment. For six years he served as the General Manager of one of the region’s largest industrial distributors, Gateway Industrial Supply, where he was responsible for the successful inception of its safety equipment division. At each of these firms he produced record growth in sales and earnings by finding better and more cost effective ways of conducting business. Yet, throughout his eighteen years of working for other companies, he held aspirations for entrepreneurship that continued to escalate. In 1989 his dream of owning his own business came true. He purchased the safety division he started in Cleveland, Ohio from his employer Gateway Industrial Supply. This purchase was the beginning of The Wright Safety Company On July 27, 2001 at 3:30 pm, Mr. Wright found his Vice President and friend sitting at his desk dead of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). His Vice President was 55 years of age with no prior health problems. This event prompted Mr. Wright to further investigate SCA and its treatment, which ultimately led to the establishment of his next company, Save A Life, Incorporated in 2003 to represent only the top leading manufacturers of AED equipment (Automatic External Defibrillators). Save A Life, Incorporated grew quickly to become a successful business venture, but it became obvious to Mr. Wright that his business mission must give way to a higher calling: public education! Only a small percentage of the population has even heard about Sudden Cardiac Arrest let alone comprehend its danger. Society needed to fully understand SCA and the affordable, easy-to-use, life-saving technology that can solve America’s most lethal public health problem. In 2004 Mr. Wright started his non-profit organization called Saving Lives Together. Today he is traveling the country speaking openly, candidly and objectively about his passion -- the need to deploy Automatic External Defibrillators with one major goal…SAVING LIVES. |
