Pediatric Pads are intended for use on children up to 8 years of age or 55 pounds.
Infant/Child Reduced Energy Electrodes now make it possible for even the youngest victims, weighing less than 80 lbs., to receive potentially lifesaving defibrillation after cardiac arrest.
The Infant/Child Reduced Energy Defibrillation Electrodes are smaller than adult electrodes. They reduce the energy dose that is delivered to the patient by a factor of four. For example, if the AED is set to deliver a dosage of 200J using adult defibrillation pads, the dose will be approximately 50J with the infant/child electrodes. Infant/Child Reduced Energy Electrodes are compatible with all devices and connectors that use QUIK-COMBO electrodes.
The Infant/Child Reduced Energy Defibrillation Electrodes are available for use with newer Biphasic LIFEPAK 500 AEDs and all LIFEPAK CR Plus AEDs.
Biphasic LIFEPAK 500 AEDs with pink connectors (standard on devices built after August 9, 2002) and all LIFEPAK CR Plus AEDs are capable of using the Infant/Child Reduced Energy Electrodes.
Biphasic LIFEPAK 500 AEDs that do not have pink connector plugs can be upgraded to accept the electrodes
